Halki and Alimia, the small pearls near Rhodes

The beautiful tiny island of Chalki or Halki is just a few miles off the west coast of Rhodes.

Halki includes beautiful beaches where you can Swim in crystal clear waters like Potamos, Ftenagia, Kania, Giali and Areta.

Halki includes several uninhabited islands, the largest of which is Alimia to the northeast

Alimia (or Alimnia) is a small island of the Aegean Sea located between Rhodes and Halki. Is situated in the west of Rhodos and in the east of Chalki. It belongs to the island group of the Dodecanese. The island has a lenght of 5 kilometers and is 4 Kilometer wide. The highest hills is 274 meters.
There is a castle fo the Johanniters, where in the past fires lightened for Rhodos. There is a small path which leads in about 30 minutes up to the castel.

The island of Chalki (Halki) is linked by boat with islands like Kassos, Karpathos, and Kreta, but mainly and most frequently with Rhodes.
The best way to reach Chalki is from Rhodes
From the port in Rhodes Town (14 kilometres from the airport), with ANEK Lines, or Dodekanisos Seaways with speedboats catamaran.
The second port is Kamiros Scala (35 kilometres from the airport) where you can catch the daily small ferries (caiques).
Often the caiques make daily excursions (especially during July and August) which depart from Kamiros Skala at 11.00 am. and return to Rhodes at 17.00 pm.
Another option for getting to Halki is with a taxi speed boat.
