Hotels in Athens Greece

Acropolis Athens Greece

Athens is the largest city and capital of Greece. As of the 2004 Olympic Games, Athens has significantly improved its infrastructure – new airport El. Venizelos (AIA), new metro, new tram, new Suburban rail, Buses, Electric railway, Railways, highways and ferry connections. You can get around – and as if all that was not enough, the taxi in Athens is probably the cheapest taxi worldwide. The same picture is with telecommunications – land lines, mobiles, Internet. Even the Acropolis, the symbol of Athens, has been restored / maintained.

If you have a long time to come to Athens, the picture of Athens has significantly changed. I can dare say that you will be surprised.

Athens has a 3000 year past and a extremely vibrant present – which is visible, all at the same time. You can be downtown Athens with all this infrastructure, tall buildings, cars, etc and you turn you head around and you see the Acropolis or the Andrianos Gate or the Aerides etc. Or you can be on the Acropolis and you look around and you see the port of Piraeus, the Megaron the Athens Concert Hall, the Athens Tower, Mount Lycabettus and the church on it St. George.

The combination of Athens of the past and Athens of the future is incredible. You can see it as the largest and most impressive open air museum in the world. The past is all over in harmony with the present.

What is even more interesting is that Athens never goes to sleep. It is the paradise for anyone who has come to Athens for a vacation. In the day time you go sightseeing, touring, shopping, swimming, sailing, golfing, eating (any type of food you like – Greek, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Indian, fast-food, etc, etc). When the sun goes down you can party till the sun rises again – no kidding!!!

Eventually you will need to sleep. The variety is large and all are renovated because of the Olympics. If you travel large, you can go to the De Luxe Athens Hotels or otherwise classified as five star hotels in Athens. But they are not the only hotels in Athens. In Athens you can find category A Hotels or four star hotels, B category Hotels or three star hotels, and your economy type which are the C category or two star hotels which are just fine. They are clean, friendly and I can say you get value for the money you pay.

The hotels of Athens are scattered all over Athens, so you can decide where you want to stay depending on what you want to do most. The city center is the most in demand but with all means of transportation, you can stay in any hotels in Athens and get around just fine. You can make your bookings on one of the large travel portals but you can also book a hotel in Athens directly from the web site of the hotel it self – its safe to make a booking directly with the hotel in Athens – its not like if Athens is an off road city – its the capital of a European Union Country which has a history and culture that mankind has no real record of.

Plus you get to see a lot more of the various Athens hotels if you go to their site. With some of them you can even chat live.

At any rate take a look at our directory, Travelling Internet, it has a listing of all hotels in Athens Greece. They are listed by category and you can go to their site via the links you will find.
